Govs Rally Past Halls 13-7 To Sweep Tournament

William Blount closed out its tournament run with a 13-7 win over Halls at Charlie Puleo Field. Halls jumped out early with a two-run home run in the top of the first, but the Govs answered right back and never let the game get away from them again.
The biggest swing of the day came in the bottom of the second when Mark Sackerman came to the plate with the bases loaded and drove one out for a grand slam. That put William Blount on top 4-2 and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. Halls tried to get something going in the third with runners on base, but the Govs pitching and defense held firm and kept extending the lead.
From there William Blount kept adding on through the middle innings, piling up enough offense to put the game out of reach and finish with 13 runs. Sackerman's grand slam stood out as the play of the game, turning a two-run deficit into a lead the Govs would not give back.
With the win, William Blount finished the tournament unbeaten, capping the day with a sweep at Charlie Puleo Field.
