Governors Fall Late on Road at Jefferson County
Gov Nation Network · February 10, 2026
William Blount lost to Jefferson County 52-40 on the road in a game that stayed tight much of the way before the Patriots pulled away in the fourth quarter. The Govs trailed just 18-10 at the half and cut it to one possession a few times in the third, but Jefferson County controlled the boards most of the night and made enough shots down the stretch to hold the lead.
Jack Freeman had a strong second half, hitting a three to cut into the deficit and adding a spin-move basket and a late steal in the closing seconds. Lucas Myers scored the game's first basket on a three and stayed involved offensively throughout, and Ethan Black chipped in baskets late to keep William Blount within striking distance. Tyson Dorsy, Jackson Drowski, Asher Upton and Braden Bird all saw extended minutes and battled on both ends against a Jefferson County team that shot well from deep in stretches.
The Govs struggled to find their shooting touch for long stretches, especially in the first half, and Jefferson County took advantage on the offensive glass. William Blount kept fighting into the fourth quarter, trimming the margin before the Patriots closed it out at the free-throw line and in transition.
William Blount plays at Halls the next night.
