Governors Fall Late At Halls In Tight Road Battle

William Blount lost to Halls 58-57 on a last-second shot Tuesday night, closing out a game that went back and forth from the opening tip. The Governors trailed most of the way but never let it get out of reach, chipping away in the second half and finally taking the lead in the final minute before Halls answered with a buzzer-beating basket.
Halls leaned on a spread-out, three-point heavy attack all night, hitting shots from the perimeter when William Blount tried to pack the paint. The Governors kept battling anyway, using strong offensive rebounding and a late push to tie the game twice down the stretch before pulling ahead 57-56 with under nine seconds left.
Jack Freeman scored in bunches all night and hit key free throws late. Luke Robertson was steady driving and finishing inside, including the basket that put William Blount ahead in the final minute. Tyson Dorsy, Lucas Myers and Braden Bird all had big moments on the boards and from outside, and Jackson Drowski added buckets in the paint. Coach Robert Reeves said afterward the team competed with far more patience than it had the night before.
