Gov Nation Network · February 25, 2026
William Blount trailed for most of the night but pulled out a 65-63 win over Sevier County in the consolation game of the district tournament. Sevier County jumped ahead early and led by as much as 15 points in the second quarter before the Governors chipped away and eventually took the lead for good down the stretch.
Luke Robertson and Jack Freeman carried the offense all night, trading three-pointers with Sevier County's Parker Newman, who scored well into the 30s for the Smoky Bears. Freeman's three midway through the fourth quarter gave William Blount its first lead of the game, and Robertson answered a Sevier County response with another three to put the Governors back on top. Jackson Drowski added a big layup down the stretch to push the margin to double digits before Sevier County made one more push.
Asher Upton also had a memorable moment, throwing down a putback dunk right before the halftime buzzer that got the home crowd on their feet. Lucas Myers made a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to help seal the win after Sevier County had cut the deficit back to one possession.
Robertson finished as the game's leading scorer for William Blount, with Freeman close behind. With the win, William Blount will enter the Region 1-4A tournament as the No. 3 seed, while Sevier County will go in as the No. 4 seed.
