Lady Governors' Season Ends With Loss At Science Hill
Gov Nation Network · February 28, 2026
William Blount's season came to a close Saturday night with a 59-23 loss at Science Hill in a region elimination game. The Lady Governors briefly led 1-0 on free throws from Zoe Foultz, but Science Hill answered right away and pulled away for good behind aggressive man-to-man defense and hot outside shooting.
Science Hill freshman Amaya Lewis hit three three-pointers in the second quarter alone as the Hilltoppers built a 28-9 halftime lead. William Blount struggled to find good looks all night, missing several close-range shots early, and Science Hill kept the pressure on with steals and second-chance points to push the margin into mercy-rule range by the fourth quarter.
Taylor Rule led William Blount with nine points and had a couple of blocks at the rim, while Sarah Jarnell was all over the floor with rebounds and hustle plays that kept some possessions alive even without much scoring to show for it. Zoe Foultz and Jarnell each finished with four points, and Mattie Feele, Kate Morton and Izzy Kid each scored two.
The loss ends William Blount's season. Science Hill, led by Lewis with 18 points, Chloe Summers with 14 and Ali Connor with 11, moves on to face Sevier County.
