Gov Nation Network · March 1, 2026
William Blount's season came to an end on the road at Morristown West, falling 58-52 in the first round of the Region 1-4A tournament. The Govs dug themselves an early hole, trailing 20-4 in the first quarter before finding their footing.
A 14-0 run late in the first quarter, fueled by three-pointers from Tyson Dorsy, Jack Freeman and back-to-back triples from Jackson Drowski, pulled William Blount within two by the end of the period. The game stayed tight the rest of the way, with the lead changing hands several times in the third and fourth quarters. Free throws and foul trouble played a big role down the stretch, with Luke Robertson eventually fouling out in the fourth quarter after picking up a technical earlier in the game.
Jack Freeman led the Govs with 15 points, followed by Drowski with 12, Robertson with eight, Lucas Myers with seven and Dorsy with six. Braden Bird and Asher Upton each added two points off the bench. Morristown West got 13 points apiece from Will Degrasseler and Jamir Williams, with Julian Ston chipping in 10.
The loss closes out the season for William Blount, which had needed a comeback win over Sevier County just to reach this round. Morristown West moves on to face Maryville on Tuesday night.
