Governors Hold Off Late Rally To Beat Eagleville 6-4
Gov Nation Network · April 5, 2026
William Blount pulled out a 6-4 win over Eagleville, needing a two-run homer late and a clutch defensive stop to close it out. Jake Farmer worked the mound through a scoreless start, and the Governors broke through in the bottom of the third with a four-run inning that put them in control.
That third-inning burst started when Karson Hard came around to score on a busted rundown throw, then Mark Sackerman singled to put runners on the corners. Jackson Maurer followed with a two-run double, and Ty Goins added another double to bring home Lucas Myers, making it 4-0. Eagleville threatened in the fourth with the bases loaded and no outs, but the Governors turned a popup double play and got out of it unscathed.
Rain moved in during the sixth inning as Drew Campbell took over on the mound, and Eagleville used the wet conditions to load the bases and scratch across a run, cutting it to 4-3. William Blount answered right back in the bottom half when Nate Ownby launched a two-run home run, pushing the lead to 6-3. Eagleville got one more run back in the top of the seventh, but Hard fielded a grounder and threw across to end the game and seal the 6-4 win.
No next opponent details were given beyond a mention of Sevier County next week on the road.
