Governors Blank Powell Behind Farmer's Strong Start
Gov Nation Network · April 11, 2026
William Blount beat Powell 6-0 at home, riding a long, steady outing from Jake Farmer and a four-run sixth inning that put the game away. Farmer worked all seven innings, mixing fastballs and off-speed pitches and racking up strikeouts while Powell managed only a handful of hits and never got a runner past second base for long.
Carson Hard set the tone all night, opening the game with a leadoff double and finishing 2-for-2 with a run scored. William Blount scratched across a run in the second and added another in the third on a scoring fly ball and a run driven in by contact from the bottom of the order. The Governors then broke the game open in the sixth, stringing together hits from Jackson Mau, Drew Campbell, Noah Harden and Lucas Myers, with Lucas Crisp driving in a run and Powell struggling to find outs against the extended lineup.
Mark Sackerman made the defensive play of the night, ranging to his right at third base and firing across the diamond for an out that drew applause from both sides. Nolan Maples and Chandler Tyler were part of the pitching staff for the day as William Blount worked through a doubleheader.
The Governors return to the field the next day against Daniel Boone.
