Rebels Hold Off Governors Rally, Win 5-2

Maryville edged William Blount 5-2 in a competitive matchup at Charlie Puleo Field. The Rebels drew first blood in the second inning, then added to their lead in the third on a solo home run.
William Blount answered right back in the bottom of the third, scoring twice to knot the game at 2-2. Noah Hardin's bunt single sparked the rally, and Lucas Crisp brought a run home with a sacrifice fly to even things up.
The game stayed tight until the top of the fifth, when Maryville broke it open with back-to-back home runs to push the lead to 4-2. The Rebels tacked on an insurance run later in the inning to make it 5-2, and that score held the rest of the way.
Hardin and Crisp were the offensive sparks for the Governors in their comeback bid, but Maryville's power surge in the fifth proved to be the difference.
