Governors Fall To Loudon In Season Opener

William Blount opened its season on the road and came away with a 40-13 loss to Loudon at Loudon County High School. The Redskins jumped out front early and never let up, building a 20-3 halftime lead behind a long touchdown run and steady offense that carried into the second half.

Loudon added touchdowns throughout the third and fourth quarters to pull away, while William Blount worked to answer with its kicking game. Ayden Tyler connected on a 40-yard field goal in the first quarter and added a second field goal later in the game, keeping the Governors on the board early. Late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Fisher Newman found Tae Williams for a 32-yard touchdown pass, William Blount's only touchdown of the night.

Tyler was the standout for the Governors, going a perfect night on kicks and accounting for seven of the team's 13 points between his two field goals and an extra point. The offense struggled to find consistency against a Loudon defense that controlled much of the game.

William Blount moves to 0-1 and turns its attention to a matchup with Austin East as the Governors look to find their footing early in the season.
